Montana offers a fantastic snowmobiling season from mid-December to April, although this can vary depending on annual snow fluctuations and location. Snow conditions are typically powdery early in the season, transitioning to hardpack as the season progresses.
Temperatures can vary widely, but generally average in the 20s to 30s Fahrenheit. However, it’s not uncommon for temperatures to dip below zero. Snow depths range from one to three feet at lower elevations and from six to 15 feet in the mountains.

Imagine riding all day without crossing a highway! With 11 different trails to groom in our area, it is difficult to provide adequate grooming.

Registration and Regulations
Snowmobiles on public land must be registered and display a decal. Snowmobiles currently registered in other states are not required to display a Montana registration decal.

MSA volunteers educate other riders about safety, outdoor survival and avalanche awareness. Others host fun rides, charity rides and special events throughout the season. In short, these snowmobile enthusiasts work hard so snowmobilers can play hard!
