Duke Field Hockey boasts a roster filled with talented athletes who have achieved significant success both in high school and at the collegiate level. This article highlights some of their notable accomplishments and contributions to the sport.

Notable Collegiate Achievements

CAA Rookie of the Year and All-America Honors

In 2012, one player was named CAA Rookie of the Year, First Team All-CAA, and to the CAA All-Rookie Squad. Furthermore, she garnered Third Team All-America honors as a freshman and was named to the 2012 Longstreth/NFHCA All-Northeast Region First Team. She was also named to the CAA All-Tournament Team.

She started every game for the Huskies as a true freshman and has started in every game this season for the Huskies. Earning CAA Rookie of the Week honors on Aug. 28, she recorded two shots on goal against Dartmouth (9/2). In a 3-2 win over No. 6 UVA, she scored the second goal of her career (which was registered as the game-winner), along with three shots. Against No. 20 Michigan State on Sept. 9, she had a season-high five shots and earned CAA Rookie of the Week for the second time on Sept. 11. She recorded the game-winning goal against UMass in overtime (9/14) coupled with two shots on goal and notched a career-high six shots and two goals against New Hampshire in the 3-2 loss (9/16).

She tallied her first-career assist against William & Mary (9/21) to go along with four shots (two on goal) and recorded three shots against ODU on Sept. 23. Firing five shots against James Madison (9/28), sending two on goal and fired off four shots against Harvard (10/3), sending three on target. She scored two goals and had an assist against Delaware on Oct. 10 and recorded three shots against Boston College.

She tallied a season-high eight shots, five on goal against Maine; had two assists in the win over the Black Bears, including the game-winning assist to Nicky Graham in overtime. She registered a career-best four goals against Hofstra, the first time since 2003 that feat has happened; also tallied an assist in the 7-1 win. Named CAA Rookie of the Week (Oct. 23), she had four shots on goal against BU on Oct. 21. She recorded six shots on goal against Drexel (Oct. 26) and had a goal and an assist vs. Towson on Oct. 28. In the CAA Tournament semifinals (Nov. 3), she had four shots on goal against JMU and scored NU's lone goal in the CAA Tournament finals against Drexel (Nov. 4). She also scored a goal against UConn in the NCAA Tournament First Round (Nov. 10).

PSAC Freshman of the Year

In 2024, one player was named PSAC Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-PSAC. She led the team in goals (12), assists (4), points (28), shots on goal (37), and game-winning goals (3), ranking 4th in PSAC with 12 goals and starting 18 out of 19 game appearances.

High School Achievements

Many Duke Field Hockey players have distinguished high school careers.

Stroudsburg High School Standout

One player was a four-year varsity starter for the Stroudsburg high school field hockey team. Her accolades include:

  • 2019: Rookie of the Year
  • 2020: PAHSFHCA Team GPA award
  • 2021: Pocono Record Athlete of the Week, EPC All Conference Second Team, Team Point Leader
  • 2022: Team Captain, EPC All Conference First Team, Team Point Leader with 18 goals and 12 assists, All State Honorable Mention, PHSFHCA All State Academic and GPA Award, MVP award, Offensive Playmaker Award

She plans to study communication studies.

Alexandra College, Dublin

Another player attended Alexandra College in Dublin, Ireland. She was vice captain of the field hockey team which won the Leinster Senior cup and league in 2011. Her international experience includes:

  • Playing for the Irish Under-16 team in 2008, earning a fourth-place finish in the European Championships in Holland.
  • Playing in friendly matches against England and Belgium in 2008.
  • Playing for the Irish Under-18 team from 2008-2010, competing in the European Championships in Belgium and placing 5th in 2009.
  • Captaining the 2010 gold-medal winning U-18 Irish hockey team in the Home Nations Championships in Cork, the first Irish under 18 team to win the tournament.
  • Playing with the Irish Under-21 hockey team in the Celtic cup, earning third-place overall.
  • Currently a member of the Irish Senior Hockey Squad.
