Indoor Ice Arenas
Birmingham Ice Sports Arena
The Birmingham Ice Sports Arena, located on the Kenning Park property, offers skating opportunities for those of all ages. The indoor arena contains a regulation-sized ice rink with bleacher seating for 550 spectators. The Birmingham Ice Sports Arena Renovation/Addition Project was completed in November 2021.
Whether you want to rent ice for a party, participate in open skating, or register for skating lessons, the arena offers something for everyone!
Other Indoor Arenas in the Area
- Detroit Skating Club (Bloomfield Hills): Boasts a rich history and one of the strongest coaching staffs in the world. It is one of only a handful of clubs in the United States that continues to own and operate its own facility.
- Farmington Hills Ice Arena (Farmington Hills): The 70,000 square-foot Ice Arena contains two ice surfaces with a total seating capacity of 1,200 people.
- Garden City Ice Arena (Garden City): A municipal ice arena offering hockey, figure skating, and recreational programs for kids and adults of all ages.
- Livonia Civic Arenas (Livonia): A nonprofit organization that operates two ice arenas in Livonia.
- USA Hockey Arena (Plymouth): The USA Hockey Foundation operates the hockey arena that hosts amateur hockey teams, in addition to classes and open skate.

Outdoor Ice Rinks
Barnum Park Ice Rink
During the winter months, an outdoor ice rink is installed at Barnum Park, located off of Pierce near George. When weather conditions allow for a safe ice surface, residents are encouraged to grab their ice skates and head over to the rink. Signs will be posted indicating the condition of the ice daily.

The Rink (Detroit)
From November to the beginning of March you can skate outdoors in the heart of downtown Detroit at The Rink in Campus Martius.
Dodge Park Ice Rink (Sterling Heights)
As this is an open-air ice rink, the hours are dependent on weather conditions.
Schedules and General Information
Ice skating sessions take place on the hour, every hour from 10:00am to 9:00pm. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your skate session. Tickets are available both online and at our box-office which is open from 11:00am - 9pm. The only day we are closed is Christmas Day!
Important Details:
- Students: Please note that you are required to present your student ID, whether booking online or at our box office.
- School Bookings: School bookings can take place in term time only from 11am-1pm Monday to Friday.
- Wheelchair Accessibility: Wheelchairs and motorized wheelchairs are welcome on the ice!
- Junior Skate: Please note that children under 7 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Youth Hockey
Formed in 1992, the Birmingham Unified Kings is a unified program for the school district. Varsity and JV teams are made up of students from Groves and Seaholm high schools. Home games are played on evenings from November - February. Maple Rd.
