Early Career and Junior Hockey

Before turning professional, Allen honed his skills in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), playing for the Kitchener Rangers, Oshawa Generals, and Windsor Spitfires over five seasons. In 205 games, he recorded two goals, 20 assists, and accumulated 381 penalty minutes.

Professional Career in the ECHL

Florida Everblades

The Florida Everblades have agreed to terms with defenseman Sean Allen on a standard player contract for the 2025-26 season. Allen, 27, re-joins the Everblades for a second season.

Last year, the Puslinch, Ontario native led the team in penalty minutes with 150, alongside three goals and 12 assists in 59 regular season games. During the postseason, he played in 13 games for Florida.

"Sean was a huge acquisition for us at last year's trade deadline," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Payne. "He brings a calming presence to our defense and an intimidating presence to his opponents. He loves to compete and be a warrior out there on the ice.

"Taking in the crowd and the energy here is unreal. The support these fans give us is great. "The fans in Cincinnati will know soon enough that I'll become a fan favorite real quick," said Allen.

Collegiate Career at Hamilton College

The Ballston Spa native played three seasons as a defenseman on the hockey team at Hamilton College, finishing his collegiate career with 31 points on four goals and 27 assists.

Transition to Coaching

Allen joined Cortland after spending the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Trine University. He helped guide the Thunder to a 21-7-2 overall record, climbing to as high as fourth in the USCHO.com weekly national poll.

Trine also made its first-ever NCAA Div. III tournament appearance, defeating Oswego in the opening round before falling to eventual national champion Hobart, 3-2 in overtime, in the national quarterfinals to finish tied for fifth in the country.

Allen worked on the West Coast with the UCLA ACHA team prior to his time at Trine. In his time with the Bruins, he led the team to three consecutive ACHA Western Regional tournaments.

Allen has also held positions in hockey operations and scouting for 85 Sports Management, based in Columbus, Ohio, and was an analytics intern for the St.

Personal Information

Allen attended Ballston Spa High School and played for the Brockville Braves (CCHL). He majored in economics.
