Okemos has a long tradition of producing excellent youth soccer players and teams since before soccer first became a varsity sport in 1982. Each season, their teams are among the most successful in the area because they strive to develop fundamentals in an enjoyable environment.
This approach has allowed many of their players to play in college and help Okemos High School win four high school state championships (Boys 1984, Boys 2004, Boys 2021, Girls 2006, Girls 2012) while finishing runners-up once (Girls 1990).
Okemos Soccer Club (OSC)
In 1996, Okemos Soccer Club (OSC) was founded to oversee the growing number of community-based competitive soccer teams in Okemos. The club’s board members and coaches were, and still are, volunteers who are passionate about helping kids succeed and believe in their mission: To create an environment that is fun, challenging, and positive.
OSC emphasizes skill development, good sportsmanship, and teamwork so their players have an opportunity to flourish and develop to their full potential. Within this environment, they offer the highest level of competition for their teams’ level of skill and ability.
When a player develops to the point that OSC can no longer challenge them in their environment, they will encourage them to seek a higher level of competition and will develop another player that can benefit from OSC.

Tryouts and Team Information
OSC holds tryouts for both boys and girls teams from the ages of Under 9 years old through Under 19 years old. These teams represent the Okemos community in the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL), which coordinates competitive soccer in the Greater Lansing Area. CASL teams are all community-based and are formed through tryouts. OSC now has teams playing in the Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL) as well.
Tryouts for OSC teams forming will be held June 7-11th. Players should pre-register for tryouts by clicking the registration button. The girls age group will have their first of two days of tryouts on Saturday PLUS one other time the following week. The boys age group will have their first of two days of tryouts on Sunday PLUS one other time the following week.
Players must attend a tryout to be considered for a team. It is highly recommended players attend both tryouts to maximize their chance to make the team. In most cases, teams are formed within 1-2 days after the final tryout.
Players who cannot make either day of tryouts should send a message via the Contact Us page in case there is roster space and a supplemental tryout is made available. Open roster spots and supplemental tryouts are rare, so plan to attend the scheduled tryouts. Juggling Club
OSC is continuing the popular juggling club again this year. Players work toward reward levels for the number of consecutive juggles they can perform. For each level achieved, players will receive a reward tag they can attach to their bag.
Juggling helps players improve their touch on the ball, allowing them to be more comfortable and confident when they have the ball. Plus, juggling improves a player's balance and concentration.
