Snowmobile Trails

Trail System Overview

The Town of Inlet system connects to the Town of Webb system, winding through forests, around lakes, and climbing along mountains on well-marked and groomed trails. Inlet is the gateway to the Moose River Recreation Area, a 34-mile corridor of state-owned land that is groomed daily and connects with trails in Indian Lake.

Permits and Regulations

All of the Town of Inlet's snowmobile trails, which are not on New York State Land or on a ridable County Road, are part of a joint system with the Town of Webb which requires a permit. New York State requires out-of-state snowmobilers to carry a NYS registration and insurance. Permits can be purchased online or in person at the Inlet Information Office or Town of Webb Visitor Center.

Parking

Free parking is available at the Inlet Town Hall, Route 28, and at Fern Park, off South Shore Road.

Trail Conditions

The Town of Webb Snowmobile Trail System has GOOD conditions overall with five inches of new snow on up to 6 inches of base. Coverage is good, and traffic is moderate. Trail #29 is in very good shape, as is Maly Loop, Pine Grove and Deer Yard.

Important Note: Access to DEC Three Lakes Trail is closed at Intersection #14 on Trail #1. The area is closed due to logging operations by Lyme Timber. Please use reasonable speeds to minimize impact on soft trails, and watch for falling branches and windstorm debris.

Safety Reminder: It is important to note that we NEVER recommend riding on lakes or ponds, as our snowmobile trails DO NOT cross lakes, and lakes are NOT part of our trail system.

Trail Condition Definitions

  • MARGINAL: Minimum coverage; May be bare spots; unable to groom due to warm temperatures and/or snow conditions.
