The Two Harbors Youth Hockey Association (THYHA) is dedicated to providing a positive and enriching hockey experience for young athletes. The association focuses on skill development and community engagement, ensuring that children within their boundaries have the best possible hockey experience.
Governance and Affiliations
The Association is governed by an elected and appointed Board of Directors composed of interested parents and community members. This structure ensures that the organization is responsive to the needs of its players and families. THYHA is a member of Minnesota Hockey, US Hockey and Minnesota’s District 11, adhering to the standards and guidelines set by these governing bodies.
Team Structure and Player Development
THYHA determines the number of teams and level of play based on an anticipated number of players registering for hockey. The association understands and promotes the idea of skill development and puck touches with our youth hockey athletes. In establishing our teams at each level, THYHA will attempt to have teams with younger players with fewer players per team to encourage and increase puck touches. Older players will have more players to compensate for the challenges and physical nature of play.
This approach allows younger players more opportunities to handle the puck and develop their skills, while older players learn to navigate the more physical aspects of the game.
