Stowe Mountain Resort Opening Day: What to Expect This Winter Season

Winter is officially here, and resorts across the region are opening their slopes. Stowe Mountain Resort is ready to welcome skiers and snowboarders for the 2024/25 winter season.

Stowe Mountain Resort, home to Vermont’s highest mountain peak, is where skiers and riders come to renew and deepen their connections to family, nature, and adventure.

Opening Day Festivities

Stowe opened for the 2024/25 winter season on Tuesday, Dec. In celebration of Opening Day, guests who arrived early were greeted at the FourRunner Quad in the Mount Mansfield base area with a DJ spinning tunes and a limited number of breakfast sandwiches available.

Please be reminded that limited terrain and early season conditions exist.

Events and Special Programs

A fantastic mix of new and returning special events including Cider Time, brought to you by Cold Hollow Cider Mill, from Wednesday, Dec. 4 through the remainder of the season.

New this season, Women & Wine is a special lesson program with après fun designed by women, taught by women; specifically for women. Looking ahead to spring, we’re excited to announce that as part of our 1st annual Spring Bash on April 11 & 12, the pond skim returns (yes, you read that correctly). Spring Bash features two days of free live music in the Mansfield base area from some of Vermont’s top talent.

From Skål - a series of on-mountain champagne and sparkling cider toasts at the Octagon Café deck - to Epic Pass Holder events, Stowe Mountain Resort has events for everyone.

Epic Pass and Benefits

2024/25 Epic Pass products, including regional passes and day passes, are still on sale and available to purchase this early season for a limited time. Don’t miss your chance to lock in the best value in skiing and riding by purchasing in advance, with a variety of options for every type of skier and rider from Epic 1-7 day passes, the Epic Local Pass and the full Epic Pass.

All Epic Pass products come with Epic Mountain Rewards, offering 20% off lodging, rentals, dining and more.

Whether planning to hit the slopes one day or every day, by purchasing a pass now, guests will get the best value, plus flexibility and benefits not offered with traditional lift tickets.

Locking in a Pass now provides Pass Holders immediate savings on lodging this winter. During the lodging Cyber Sale happening now, Pass Holders can save up to 30% on room rates across Vail Resorts' portfolio of hotels and vacation rentals conveniently located near the mountains. Pass Holders get the maximum savings and the sale is eligible to book through December 3.

Epic Passes unlock more than just lift access; with Epic Mountain Rewards, Pass Holders get 20% off on-mountain food, lodging, group ski and ride lessons, and rentals.

New this year, Pass Holders with an Epic Pass and most of the company’s other season-long Passes receive 6 Epic Friend Tickets. Occasional, non-committal skiers and riders favor Epic 1-7 Day Passes which provide up to 65% savings compared to lift ticket prices by purchasing ahead of the season.

The Epic Day Pass allows guests access to world-class resorts starting at as low as $81 per day for adults at Vermont and New York resorts. Epic Day Passes do not include Epic Friend Tickets.

Friends who do not hold a 2025/26 Pass can apply the full cost of a single redeemed Epic Friend Ticket towards eligible 2026/27 Passes including Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, and other regional passes for a limited time. The full list of eligible Passes will be available once 2026/27 Passes are on sale.
