Demon Snowboarding Armor Review: Armortec Protective Jacket and Force X D3O Short

When it comes to snowboarding, protection is paramount. Demon offers a range of armor designed to keep you safe on the slopes. In this review, we'll take a closer look at the Demon Armortec Protective Jacket and the Demon Force X D3O Short.

Demon Armortec Protective Jacket

The Demon Armortec Protective Jacket initially sparked excitement, reminding us of the Xion Protective Gear Jacket, which we highly appreciate. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear where the price difference lies. The fit seems to run a size larger than the Xion sizing, so it's recommended to size down for a better fit.

While the jacket incorporates D3O throughout, a notable drawback is the lack of adequate padding in the back. Additionally, much of the padding, deemed unnecessary for snowboarding, is not removable without resorting to cutting it out.

Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons:

  • Pros:
    • D3O protection throughout the jacket
    • Lower price point
  • Cons:
    • Fit runs large
    • Insufficient back padding
    • Non-removable unnecessary padding

So all in all its not a bad jacket for the price and you get D30 throughout the jacket.

Demon Force X D3O Short

The Demon Force X D3O Short is specifically designed for snowboarders, evident in its construction. Unlike Demon Force's upper body armor, which often relies on lower-cost protection with cheaper padding, the D3O Short offers a more substantial level of protection.

It features a sizable D3O triangle that effectively covers the butt, complemented by light foam padding for added protection. While the foam padding provides some cushioning, it may not offer complete protection in all situations. They just used most of the money on the D30.

For the price, the Demon Force X D3O Short is a decent option, particularly considering the inclusion of D3O on the tailbone.
