Overall Impression

Entering Sundance, you're immediately greeted with a holiday/winter feel, even if there isn’t anything personally nostalgic about the place. Despite being cold, there’s a cozy, warm environment.

Terrain and Skiable Area

Sundance is a very family-friendly resort with runs for everyone. The resort features a front and back mountain, helping to separate skill levels. Great terrain is available for beginners, intermediate, and expert snowboarders. The back mountain has an amazing view and some beautiful scenic runs as well.

However, some reviewers note that Sundance is small, with only 450 skiable acres and terrain that may not be the best compared to larger resorts. Mix that with the slow lifts and I just don't have much fun.

I love that you can see both Deer Creek and Utah Lake from the top. Gorgeous resort.

Lift Experience

One common critique is the slow lifts that stop frequently. This can detract from the overall experience, especially when combined with the limited terrain.

Family-Friendliness and Ski School

Sundance truly shines when it comes to family-friendliness and ski lessons. One thing Sundance has down is their ski lessons.

They are so good and cute with the kids and the kids learn and gain confidence remarkably fast. Amazing with the adults too. They are so good and cute with the kids and the kids learn and gain confidence remarkably fast. Amazing with the adults too. I can’t say enough about them. Thank you for making our ski day totally awesome!

The $10 rope tow was good for very beginner kids. There are some beginner runs, but you still have to go down fairly steep hill to get back to the lift no matter what. This makes it less child/learner friendly IMO.

Night Skiing

Night skiing is amazing on the front mountain, offering plenty of room for fun. I fell in love with night skiing because there's just something so relaxing to me about seeing the stars as I ski. There are a few areas that aren't lit well at night, but I love those runs because you can see the stars.

Value and Cost

Price can be a concern, as other resorts offer better deals for families, such as free skiing for kids under 10. Some reviewers find that they can save money by going to bigger resorts with their family.

Crowds

One of the advantages of Sundance is that it doesn't get as crowded as the bigger resorts. It may be small but it's chill if your skiing around with your friends.

Final Thoughts

I got my start at Sundance and have brought family and friends here as well. Definitely feels like a 2nd home to me.

Here is the thing. I live very close, about 10min drive, but would rather drive 1 hour for better, bigger, and less expensive mountain. I wish Sundance was a lot of things, but it just falls short for me.

Growing up skiing here i’ve always felt that there was a run for me whether I was just hopping off the lift for the first time and falling on my face or more recently being a complete psycho on the slopes. Sundance is no joke man, check it out.
