Interactive Trail Maps and Mobile Apps

The New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) offers several resources to help you navigate the trails:

  • NYSSA Interactive Trail Map: This free webmap allows anyone to view snowmobile trails and Points of Interest (POIs) from their computer or smartphone when cell service or WiFi is available.
  • NYSSA Mobile APP: The NYSSA/SLEDNY app can be used even when no cell service is available. It includes club-entered trail status, reroutes, local club trails, trail closures, alerts, services, as well as scenic vistas and business Points of Interest. The app also has the ability to target your location and follow your travel as you go.

Important notes about the NYSSA Interactive Webmap:

  • Each season, the NYS Parks snowmobile unit's assigned funded snowmobile trails will not show as OPEN or CLOSED until the clubs' editors make those Trail Status selections based on their individual club trail systems.
  • The Interactive Webmap allows club reps to show their own trail systems (or segments within) as OPEN or CLOSED.
  • Clubs can enter closed-down sections of trail for any reason (logging, bridge out, landowner issues, etc.) and edit in the reroutes of those closed segments.
  • Clubs can enter ALERTS on trails to notify riders of specific areas of potential hazards via text boxes describing the issue(s).
  • Clubs can also edit in their own "Unfunded Club Trails" and label them with their assigned NYSSA Club Trail ID #s.

Points of Interest (POIs) will also be shown as the club reps enter them. POIs include Park & Ride lots; Parts/Service locations; business locations such as food, fuel, lodging, and other retail businesses that snowmobilers want/need to know all about.

Viewers can hover over or click on any trail for more detailed information about each trail, such as Maintaining Club; Trail ID #; club membership page; and club address. As mentioned, all of these POIs, reroutes, club trails, and other features will be entered by club reps…which means the NYSSA Interactive Webmap is the only webmap of NYS snowmobile trails where the trail maintenance entities enter their trails’ information and POIs into the data. It is always going to be a WORK IN PROGRESS as new edits are made daily throughout each season.
