Pineland Farms Cross-Country Skiing Trails: Conditions and Information

Pineland Farms offers 30 kilometers of professionally designed and well-maintained trails. These trails are available at no fee for individuals and provide an outstanding venue for walking and running during the non-winter months. During the winter season, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing.

Trail Access and Information

The Market is the place to find hiking trail maps and get information about the trails. The Market offers recreation passes for sale all year long. You will now go to the market for all ski and disc golf passes. You can also pay using the honor box and the QR code on the box.

Below you’ll find our written trail report that is updated each morning with information from our groomers and Outdoor Center staff about the overall conditions on our trails. We also update each trail with notes for more specific details of conditions. If you have any questions please contact Recreation at 207.688.6599.

When viewing our Trail Conditions, our trails will be listed as open / groomed and/or track. Groomers choice is Pownal Loop.

Types of Cross-Country Skiing

There are two main types of cross-country skiing:

Classic Cross-Country Skiing

Classic Cross-Country Skiing is the type of cross-country that most people envision. To classic cross-country ski, the skis will be parallel to one another and the skier will push forward on one ski and glide forward with the other ski.

Skate Skiing

Skate skiing is a form of cross-country skiing that has more of an ice skating motion. A skate skier will have their skis in a V-shape and will push off from one ski to another while using their poles to propel forward.
