Rangeley Snowmobile Club Trail Map: A Guide to Maine's Premier Snowmobiling

Welcome to the Rangeley Lakes Region, home of the best snowmobile trail systems in Maine! The Rangeley Snowmobile Club (RLSC) is one of the premier snowmobile clubs in the beautiful state of Maine and offers the flawlessly groomed Ronald W. Just trail system. Our regional trail system boasts one of the largest organized clubs out of 281 in the State of Maine.

Unmatched Trail Grooming

RLSC owns and operates FIVE state-of-the-art grooming tractors with trail drags utilized to groom a flawless trails network. These professionals have refined trail grooming into an art. Our club draws from a solid group of volunteers and paid groomer operators to keep our trail system unmatched in New England.

The typical snowmobile trail is approximately 16 feet wide and manicured to perfection. Our trails are straight and fast. Trails get groomed late at night, allowing them to freeze to a smooth, solid hard-pack.

Grooming late at night allows time for the trail to "set up" and this keeps the trail flatter for a longer period of time. Also, grooming at night is much safer for riders. The lighting on the groomers at night alert riders that a machine is heading in their direction. Meeting a groomer on a corner on the trail in the daytime is very dangerous.

The Maine Snowmobile Association inspected our trails and the reports that came back were very good to excellent.

Electronic Offline Trail Maps

We’re excited to announce our new electronic offline trail maps! These maps use the app Avenza Maps. The maps are available for download for $4.99 and can be used even when you don’t have cell service.

One user noted: "I recently led a group of snowmobiles in Millinocket and found that I had the latest and most accurate of several other riders. I was able to follow the ITS 85/86 re-route perfectly. Very good map. Looking very good. I would highly recommend GPS Trailmasters."

Another user adds: "Been using the snowmobile maps for many many years and they are by far the best around. Have also used the ATV maps the last 3 years and they are awesome as well. I use the Maine and New Hampshire maps. Great help navigating on snowmobiles on established trails. Definitely relies greatly on updates submitted by users."

Another user says: "I bought this to use on a new Garmin 700i and it works great. Followed the directions and it worked as soon as I completed the setup. I sledded 1,260 miles over 8 days and thos had every trail I used well documented."

Maine's Interconnected Trail System (ITS)

Maine Snowmobile Trails from Solon north to Jackman, or east to Greenville and west to Eustis/Rangeley, enthusiasts can travel hundreds upon hundreds of miles of well groomed and maintained trails. Local clubs and dedicated volunteers take great pride in providing the best that Maine has to offer snowmobiling. Well marked trails lead to exciting riding, spectacular scenery and wildlife sightings.
Maine ITS Trail Map

Ride ITS 84, 86, 87, 88 and 89 through widely varying terrain and visit sites like Grand and Moxie Falls. ITS 87 along Moxie Mountain and ITS 86 along the Dead River are two of the most scenic sections of Maine snowmobile trails.

The Map of Maine’s Interconnected Trail System (ITS) is provided to snowmobilers through the joint effort of the Maine Snowmobile Association and the Snowmobile Division of the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, Department of Conservation under the direction of the MSA Trails Committee.

The trails themselves are created through the efforts of the snowmobile clubs, the Snowmobile Division, local municipalities, supporting businesses and the many landowners throughout the state of Maine who generously allow access to sledders.

When viewing your printed ITS map: ITS trails are marked red, connector trails marked green. Green boxed markings (ie: AK37, PT 15) represent junctions denoted by the first and last letter of the county in which the junction is located, and the number assigned to the junction. An additional 10,000 or so miles of trails crisscross and network heavily with this system all across the state.

Local clubs and towns produce local and regional maps with details of individual trail systems. The ITS map is updated each year to reflect changes and additions to the trail system for the upcoming season. New maps are usually available for distribution by late October.
