League Structure and Divisions

The league consists of four divisions, each catering to different skill levels and age groups:

  • Tier 1 Division: For players who have participated at the highest level of amateur hockey, including College Hockey.
  • Tier 2 Division: For experienced players, offering a fast-paced environment.
  • Tier 3 Division: For novice to intermediate players.
  • 50+ Division: A newly formed division for players aged 50 and over, focusing on recreational play.

The TAHL has grown significantly from its original four teams to an expected twenty eight teams this year. The league strives to ensure teams are evenly matched and competitive.

For the 2025-2026 season, the league will operate a single 15-game season instead of separate fall and spring seasons. Registrations are accepted on a first-pay basis, and divisions are expected to fill up quickly. Team assignments will be completed one week prior to the first game.

Interested players should contact Danny to join the waiting list, including their phone number and preferred division. Individuals are allowed to sign up for only one team per season due to limited ice availability, but exceptions may be made if there are open roster spots.

League Rules and Regulations

The Tucson Adult Hockey League is a no-check league, and league play is subject to USA Hockey rules and regulations. An additional rule states that any player receiving 3 penalties in a single game will be ejected and not allowed to play for the remainder of the game.

Game Format

Our ice slots are contracted for specific periods of time. As a result, we will use a running time format. Each period will be 20 minutes running time.

The final minute of the third period will be stop time if the score is within 2 goals. Minor penalties are 3 minutes running time. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation, there will be a 3 player shoot-out. Playoffs will have a separate set of overtime rules.

To ensure timely ice cleaning for the next game, players are asked to leave the ice immediately after their game.

Substitutions

Substitutions are not allowed. Only those signed up for the league are allowed on the ice. In the event a team has less than 10 skaters, they can use league players to fill in.
