Women's ski and snowboard jackets are meticulously designed to provide both protection and comfort while on the slopes. Tailored to meet the specific demands of snowsports, these jackets are essential for dealing with cold temperatures, snow, wind, and moisture. With the right jacket, you can confidently tackle alpine heights without worrying about getting soaked and cold.
Here's a detailed look at the features that make women's ski puffer jackets stand out:
Weather Protection
When you’re sliding on snow, weather protection is key. Waterproof and water-resistant construction ensures your underlayers remain dry throughout your day on the mountain. Our women’s ski coats are durable and reinforced, with smooth, moisture-wicking liners and easy-access pit vents for breathability.
- Waterproof Fabrics: Look for jackets with laminated waterproof membranes that offer robust protection against moisture. A PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent) finish on the fabric's surface helps water bead and roll off, further enhancing water resistance.
- Storm-Proof Hoods: The jacket's hood is storm-proof and compatible for use with a helmet.
Insulation
Insulated women’s ski jackets and women’s snowboard jackets help keep you comfortable in icy conditions while remaining breathable and lightweight for uphill and downhill performance. Puffer jackets are thickly padded to keep you warm in the coldest conditions (200g/m2 padding throughout).
Breathability
It’s crucial that moisture from body heat can escape from inside the garment. Laminated membrane materials offer excellent breathability and efficiently wick away moisture.

- Pockets: Hand-warming zippered pockets are multi-use for versatility. Oversized hip pockets provide ample space for snacks. Chest pockets often have internal gear organization, including insulated phone pockets.
- Vents and Zippers: Zippers help keep out the elements while vents help let out extra heat.
- Adjustable Hoods: Adjustable, helmet-compatible hoods help protect your neck and face from rough winds and icy air.
- Reinforcements: Hardwearing women’s snow pants protect your legs and ankles from harsh weather conditions, combining functional stretch with reinforced durability for comfort that endures.
Additional Features
- Layering: Keep your core warm and dry underneath a women’s ski and snow shell jacket by layering with technical women’s ski and snow baselayers.
- Thumb-Activated Drawcords: Easily tighten wrist cuffs to keep out snow.
- Perforated Panels: A perforated panel at the top of the zipper can disperse breath and reduce goggle fogging.

Testing and Reviews
SKI’s gear testers include ski patrollers, instructors, and ski shop buyers. Our goal with each annual jacket test is to get as many jackets on as many skiers in as many different conditions as possible. Our testing pool is composed of women from 17 to 56. Each one recorded the temperature and how warm they felt, if the jacket covered their butts, and if they felt free or cramped as they arced down the mountain or pulled themselves up from powdery wipeouts. They noted how well the jacket kept out weather, if it was breathable or not, if and if they had the pockets they needed. And when they got compliments in the lift line, they noted that too.
