Coming off of Memorial Day Weekend, many team members competed in Bellingham’s annual Ski to Sea relay race, which traverses from Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay and is comprised of 8 racers: XC Ski, Downhill Ski, Downhill Run, Road Bike, Canoe, Cycolocross and Kayak!

Key Highlights of the Race

Overall it was an incredibly successful event, great for team bonding, a reunion with friends and family, podium finishes, testaments of health, and all types of weather experienced. We had a blast racing from Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay with friends and enjoying the beautiful region. Girls Rule.

Ski to Sea is hands-down my favorite race I’ve ever raced.

  • DH Ski:
    • Scarlett Graham (26:22, Car-Free Team, Humana Robur, Div. Pl.)
    • Amber Morrison (27:22, Kulshan Cycles, Div. Pl.)
    • Aly Howisey (30:46, SHEroes, Div. Pl.)

The perfect lead up and preparation and conditions never exist. At least not consistently.

On Sunday Al asked if I would switch legs with her because the snow was slow. Like I pride myself on versatility and flexibility but now I’m having “did I pack my poles” nightmares and blurry visions of popping out of my bindings. The answer was yes, bundled with nerves and fake confidence.
